Mr. Stern's Bio:

I am very excited to be starting my sixth year at WCA, where I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade history and English Language Arts.

My family and I have lived abroad for a total of nineteen years, including eleven years in China, four years in Singapore, and four years in South Korea. I have over twenty years of teaching experience, both formally and informally. I have taught a variety of subjects, including AP US History, AP World History, 9th Grade Intro to World History, US History, East Asian History, Logic and Rhetoric, English, Economics and Government, and Mandarin Chinese.

I am passionate about both history and English Language Arts. History provides us with a valuable perspective on how we have arrived at the modern age, while ELA emphasizes the importance of language and words in shaping our perspectives and understanding. By combining these subjects, I help students explore and understand our world more deeply, using my experiences and skills to make learning engaging and meaningful.

In my free time, I enjoy mountain biking, spending time outdoors, learning about the world, drinking coffee, and spending time with my family.
