School Psychologist Intern

My name is Jennifer Cord. I am entering my fourth year as part of the Special Education and Mental Health teams here at World Compass Academy. I hold master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology that has an emphasis on Child Development and a master's degree in School Psychology.  I am currently completing my Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology, expected in Spring 2025.

As a school psychologist intern, my primary goal is to support the overall well-being and academic success of all students. I work closely with teachers, administrators, and families to address each child’s unique needs. My key responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting Comprehensive Assessments: I perform psychological and academic evaluations to identify students' strengths, challenges, and any potential learning disabilities or mental health concerns. Working with my supervisor, I collaborate with the team to develop tailored interventions and accommodations.

  2. Providing Counseling and Mental Health Support: I offer individual and group therapy to help students manage issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or behavioral challenges. My role is to create a safe, supportive environment where students feel heard and empowered.

  3. Collaborating with Teachers: I work directly with classroom and special education teachers to support evidence-based instructional methods and classroom management techniques, fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment for all students.

  4. Connecting Families to Community Resources: I am knowledgeable about local services and assist families in accessing counseling, mentoring programs, social services, and other supports that meet their unique needs.

As a school psychologist, I am dedicated to supporting students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development. My role involves removing barriers to learning and empowering both students and families to reach their full potential.

Additionally, I serve as an Adult Leader for our Sources of Strength chapter. This student-led program promotes mental health by building connections, coping skills, resiliency, and wellness.

Working with students is deeply fulfilling. I enjoy connecting with them, empowering them, and helping them discover their unique learning paths. My goal is to support each student’s development, ensuring they have the tools needed to succeed. I believe that, as a team of parents and educators, we can equip students to overcome challenges and thrive. I am committed to helping students find their voice, build confidence, and foster a positive mindset.

On a personal note, I have been happily married for 12 years and am a proud parent of two wonderful children—one in 5th grade and one in 4th grade. In my free time, I enjoy practicing yoga, reading, cross-stitching, and taking walks with my dogs.

I am excited for another fantastic year at World Compass Academy and look forward to continuing to support our students and their families. Please let me know if you have any questions!
